How to use or install a small engine digital tachometer?
Wide APPLICATIONS
Hipa digital tachometer compatible with Chainsaw, Lawn Mower, Motorcycle, ATV, Motor Boat, Snowmobile, and Generator.
Functions
1.Digital Tach Hour Meter - This induction tachometer hour meter is equipped with a digital LCD display. When the engine is shut down, it will display the working hour. And when the engine is running, it will display the RPM speed.
2.The tachometer is completely waterproof with grade IP68.
3.The maximum synchronization range is: 9,999.9 hours and maximum speed range: 9,999 rpm.
Total time reading display range 0-99999H, precision 0.1H. Track the total working time of the device in real time, automatically keep timer data when the device is powered off, and directly accumulate the next cycle.
4.Measure the current speed of the motor. When the engine is running, the LCD display shows the current speed and the maximum speed is 30,000.
5.Low voltage design, built-in battery power supply, safe and reliable
Installing Method
Easy to install, with no wiring or connection to the included hardware, this tachometer records the engines total running time and RPM by taking one direction from the spark plug wires when the engine is started.
Tach/Hour Meter is the key to a successful preventative maintenance program.
Use on most 2 or 4 stroke gasoline engine:
2 or 4 Stroke - This waterproof tach hour meter has 2 options. You can choose the 2-stroke or the 4-stroke option. And the waterproof tach hour meter commonly suits most vehicle engines.
1. Wrap the included pick-up wire around the spark plug wire five times. Start wrapping the pick-up wire about 4cm from the end of spark plug boot. Use the included zip tie to secure the pick-up wire wrapping as shown in the photo right.
2. Before continuing the installation, insert the pick-up wire into the rear of the meter. Start the motor to make sure the meter is picking up the ignition signal. If it is, The LCD will Show RPM's when the engine is running. When the engine is off, the meter shows total hours accumulated. You'll have to wait at least 6 minutes for the timer to increment the timer display(1/10th of an hour). If it is not picking up the ignition signal, slide the pick-up wrap closer to the spark plug boot.
3. If the meter is successfully picking up the spark signal, run and zip tie the pick-up along one of the throttle cables. Make sure the pick-up wire can not make contact with the engine. Also, make sure you leave enough slack (about 8 cm) so removing the spark plug wire is possible. Keep in mind the general location of final mounting location on the frame spare.
Securing Method
a. Drilling into your frame with $2.5mm socket, then secure it to the frame coming with two pick-up screws.
b. Using padded double-sided tape on the backside of the meter and secured it to the frame spar with zip ties.
Long Battery Life
Adopting a low voltage design and having a built-in battery, the digital tach and hour meter is safe and reliable to use. And the battery has a service life of up to 2 years.
