Spark Arrestor Replacement On A String Trimmer
This blog is a step-by-step instructions for replacing the spark arrestor on a string trimmer. The most common reasons for replacing the spark arrestor is if the engine stalls during operation.
Replacement
Before you replace the spark arrestor on your string trimmer, you need to first make sure both the engine and muffler have cooled.
Step 1: Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.
Step 2: Use a t25 Torx bit to unthread the screws securing the muffler cover to detach the cover.
Step 3: Use a Phillips head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the spark arrestor cover plate. Lift off the plate and remove the old arrestor.
Step 4: Install the new spark arrestor by aligning it on the muffler.
Step 5: Reposition the cover plate and rethread the screws to secure. Realign the muffler cover and secure it with the screws.
With the repair completed, reattach the wire in boot to the spark plug and your string trimmer should be ready for use.
