Gas Tank Replacement On A Lawn Mower Engine
This blog is a step-by-step instruction for replacing the gas tank on a Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engine. The most common reasons for replacing the gas tank is when the engine is leaking fuel.
Replacement
Before you begin the replacement, you need to make sure the engine has cooled and remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.
Step 1: The first step is to drain the gas from your old tank. You can place a container under the tank outlet and release the clamp to remove the gas line.
Step 2: Your next step is to remove the starter rope from the rope guide. Then remove the screws to release the engine cover. Feed the starter handle through the cover and set the cover aside.
Step 3: Now remove the screws to release the old gas tank and pull the old tank out.
Step 4: Install the new gas tank by positioning it onto the engine housing and securing the screws.
Step 5: Reconnect the gas line and secure it with the clamp. Feed the starter handle through the engine cover, then align the cover and secure it with the screws. Loop the starter rope onto the guide. You can now transfer the gasoline to the new tank.
With the repair completed, reattach the spark plug wire and boot to the spark plug. And now your lawn mower should be ready for use.
