Auger Shear Pin Replacement On A Snow Blower
This blog is a step-by-step instruction for replacing the auger shear pin on a Cub Cadet snowblower. The most common reasons for replacing the auger shear pin are when the snowblower auger won’t turn or only one auger turns.
Replacement
Before you begin the replacement, you need to make sure the engine has cooled and remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting. We recommend you perform this procedure with little or no fuel in the tank.
Step 1: Carefully tip the snowblower back so it rests on its handles.
Step 2: Rotate the applicable auger blade to align the shaft holes and use a punch and hammer to knock out any remnants of the old broken shear pin.
Step 3: Install the new shear pin by inserting it throuh the shaft holes and secure it with the retaining clip.
Step 4: Turn the snowblower to its upright position. Reattach the spark plug wire abd boot to the spark plug. You also need to refill the fuel tank and your snowblower should be ready for use.
With the new cable installed, you can now return the start key to the snowblower’s engine and your snowblower should be ready for use.
